Instrumental Ensembles
Second Presbyterian Church offers a variety of instrumental ensembles for musicians of all levels and interests. Whether you’re a beginner, an experienced amateur, or a professional musician, there’s a place for you to use your gifts in worship and community.
Handbells
- Led By: Rebecca Holt
- Rehearsals: Saturday mornings
- Participation: Open to 8th grade students and older
- Details:
- Plays in worship services approximately once a month during the program year.
- Moderate music-reading ability and a sense of rhythm and coordination are important.
- No audition required, but regular attendance and a spirit of mutual support are crucial.
Second Winds
- Eligibility: Youth and adults with at least three years of study on wind, brass, string, or percussion instruments.
- Details:
- An intergenerational ensemble comprised of church and community volunteers.
- Plays in two to three worship services each semester.
- A great opportunity for fellowship, teamwork, and glorifying God through music.
Festival Orchestra
- Description: A professional orchestra featuring members of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, and other area professionals.
- Role: Performs for special concerts and enhances festival worship services.
Festival Brass
- Description: A brass ensemble with members from the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, and freelance professionals.
- Role: Performs with the Sanctuary Choir during special worship services and events.
Open to All: These ensembles are open to anyone in the community—you do not need to be a member of Second Presbyterian Church to join!
